The Wonderful Health Benefits Of Sleeping

Many of does not realize the wonderful health benefits that sleeping can give to us. We work hard to keep ourselves healthy and fit, however we forget to give our body the proper sleep. There are a lot of wonderful health benefits that we could get if we give our body a good night's sleep always.

Sleeping is proven to help keep our heart healthy. The most common time for heart attacks and strokes is during the early morning hours. This may be explained by the way sleeping works with our blood vessels. Insufficient amount of sleep can cause a worsen blood pressure and cholesterol level.
Lack of sleep also heightens the risk for heart disease and stroke. It is ideal to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep each night to keep the heart healthy.

Sleep is also effective in reducing the risk of some forms of cancer. People who work during the late shift are more likely to develop breast and colon cancer. Researchers believe that this is due to the differing levels of melatonin in people who are exposed to light during the night.

Exposure the light reduces the level of melatonin in the body. Melatonin is the hormone that is responsible for making us sleepy and is also believe to be a protection against cancer. It seems that this hormone can suppress the growth of the tumors.

Sleeping also reduces stress. If the body is lacking sleep, it tends to undergo in a state of stress, which is one of the enemies of good health. The function of the body is put on high alert, thus, causing an increase in the production of stress hormones and higher blood pressure. An increase in the body's blood pressure increases the risk of heart attacks and stroke.

Also, sleep may help you lose weight. Research shows that those people who sleep less than seven hours a day are more likely to be overweight and obese. It is believe that insufficient sleep affects the hormonal balance of the body which in turn affects the appetite. A disruption in the ghrelin and leptin hormones of the body, (the hormones that regulates the appetite) is caused by lack of sleep.

Sleeping is not only a pleasurable to us, but it also provides a lot of wonderful health benefits. So it is very important to always have at least 7 hours of sleep during the night to keep the body's perfect state.
